Titusville PAL has many opportunities for volunteers to help build character in young people through our youth leagues in , all our programs. And best of all, you do not need any sports experience because we offer sport specific training.
PAL PARENTS
PAL
Parents is a group of parents who take part in
fundraising and development of programs. They are a
valuable member of the PAL team and with their help and
guidance, we can assure quality programs that meet the
needs of the child and family. We welcome your
participation and can promise a rewarding and fun
experience.
Please consider joining PAL Parents and helping us
develop programs that will help the families and
children of the Titusville Police Athletic League.
COACHES
Sports provide great opportunities for children to develop positive character traits, like teamwork and responsibility. Further, studies have found that a coach ranks third behind children's parents and pastors as the most influential adults in their lives. So Titusville Pal's philosophy is to recruit and train "double-goal" coaches. A double-goal coach wants to win and wants to help players learn lessons that will help them be successful in life. Our coaches focus on the effort and conduct of the players rather than the result of the game. Titusville PAL coaches teach children to play fair, play hard, and be a winner, regardless of the score. There are generally 1-2 games per week (evenings and Saturdays) and teams usually practice 2-3 times a week. Expect to commit 6-8 hours per week for 10-12 weeks as a coach.
TEAM
MANAGERS
The team manager is the glue that holds the team together. The team manager updates players' parents regarding the game schedule and practice schedule; keeps an accurate roster for the team; helps disseminate any information that the league may have for parents; and helps coordinate practice days, times, and locations with the coach(es). The teams with the highest levels of player enjoyment and parent satisfaction are the teams with reliable and organized managers. Expect to spend about 6 hours per week for 10-12 weeks as a team manager.
SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATORS
A special events coordinator is someone who enjoys working with groups to plan and run special events such as awards ceremonies. A special events coordinator must work with other volunteers and Titusville PAL staff to locate, design, and decorate an acceptable site for the event; plan the agenda and menu; identify and recruit guest speakers; and assist in hosting the event. Expect to commit 12-20 hours during a six-week time span as a special events coordinator.
GAME OFFICIALS
The game official is critical to the success of our leagues. The game official must know all the rules of the sport; be punctual; oversee a fair and equal opportunity for the children to play a fun and organized game; and officiate games with a firm hand and in a respectful manner. We will work to accommodate your schedule, but expect to work 1-2 games per week for 8 weeks.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Titusville PAL offers many other opportunities to volunteer including scorekeeping at games, data entry, clerical work, field clean-up, and game day preparation to name a few. Quality help is always appreciated so give us a call today to find out how you can get involved!
